Russia: Operation Barbarossa (Germany's 1941 invasion of
Russia). This is not to be confused with Barbarella. The former resulted in the demise of
the Third Reich and (directly or indirectly) the death of 20 million Russians. The latter
produced 'Duran Duran'.
 Mongolia:
Mongolism. Dr John Langdon Down coined the racial descriptor of 'Mongolism', thinking that
his patients were a throw-back to an ancient Far Eastern race. It is now known that (the
now termed 'Down Syndrome') is caused by a genetic duplicate of chromosome number 21.
