Date - 25th July 1998

Theme - "The Great Escape".
We chose 9 main characters from the film for the 9 pubs.
Ausweisse invite which 'permitted' participation in this years event. 9 lucky participants were also cast as a relevant character from the film.

Highlights
An incredible turn out of 65+. A true Owen goal to blow away the recent Beckham/Argie World Cup hangover.
There was a good showing from all quarters and many newcomers. Ex Brighton 'Nutley' boys and N block girls appeared. Even an Enfield Elder made the long trip down.

The Route
Same successful route as last year. The extra pub was the aptly titled Escape Bar on Marine Parade.

1. Horatio's 12.00-13:30 Another good turn out at the first pub. Babies galore too.
2. Escape Bar 13.35-14:15 Empty inside, fill up the patio.
3. Beachcombers 14:20-15:25 Find that it has changed it's name to the Honey Club. Usual patio as sitting on the beach with your beers is not allowed.
4. Fortune of War 15:30-16:45 Pints on the beach, pie and chips next door.
5. Gemini Beach Bar 16:50-18:05 Good table service. Very large group assembled now.
Ouch - Aarran and Ritch Emmit sunburn.
6. The Windmill 18:20-19:40 Male and Female (topless? - sadly not) darts challenges (Nick and Toni winners).
Aarran asleep.
7. Font & Firkin 19:55-21:00 Busy, boozy. Rocky Horror hen night among others.
8. Druid's Head 21:05-22:10 Usual scrum in tiny pub.
9. King and Queen 22:20-Close Well done, 41 people here at the end.

Those Attending
Continuing with our jingoistic theme:
